Tokelau PGCFE Training on Health Information Systems and Field Epidemiology

These two training modules, entitled "Introduction to Health Information Systems" and "Introduction to Epidemiology and Field Epidemiology" are part of the Postgraduate Certificate in Field Epidemiology (PGCFE) course under the  Pacific Public Health Surveillance Network (PPHSN) SHIP-DDM capacity development program.

Beneficiaries: 10 nurses and public health professionals from Tokelau

Capacity building and strengthening of core competencies for public health is a priority of the PPHSN since its creation twenty-six years ago. Throughout the years, the Pacific Community (SPC) together with PPHSN partners developed and delivered several training courses in field epidemiology and public health surveillance for the region.   In 2013, they redeveloped the data for decision-making (DDM) training programme, now called the Postgraduate Certificate in Field Epidemiology (PGCFE), to suit training needs expressed by Pacific Ministers of Health. The PGCFE forms part of the Strengthening Health Interventions in the Pacific (SHIP)-DDM Programme, which is one of the six services of PPHSN.

These training modules are facilitated by SPC and Fiji National University (FNU) in collaboration with Tokelau Department of Health with financial support from EU, AFD and DFAT.
