SPC in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) led Joint incident management team (JIMT) has produced a range of technical Infection prevention and control guidance’s in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic that you can access here.
To complement personal protective equipment (PPE) posters produced in 2020, SPC has produced two video’s on how to put on and remove PPE for use by frontline workers working in COVID-19 isolation and quarantine centres. The videos also demonstrate how to correctly sanitise your hands.
These videos were produced in English and French with the financial support of the European Union (EU) and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
The first video provides step by step demonstration on how-to put-on PPE for contact and droplet precautions, followed by the second video on airborne and contact precautions to be followed when undertaking an aerosol generating procedure, or when assisting with any airway management procedures or if the patient is on airborne precautions.
Margaret Leong, SPC’s IPC Adviser said, “These videos are made for all health care workers, caregivers and frontline workers, working in the COVID-19 isolation and quarantine centres. However, non-technical people can gain knowledge on the correct steps to follow when putting on and removing masks and gloves”.
According to the World Health Organisation, IPC is a practical, evidence-based approach which prevent patients and health workers from being harmed by avoidable infections.
SPC can produce the videos in other languages upon request by pacific island countries and territories.
