The McCabe Centre for Law and Cancer in partnership with UNDP, WHO and the SPC hosted the first Pacific one-week workshop on Law, NCD, Trade and Sustainable Development in August 2016. Twenty officials from the legal, trade and health departments from Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga and Vanuatu participated in this workshop. The workshop examined the NCD burden facing the Pacific region and the role of the law to prevent and control cancer and NCDs in particularly in the context of developing coherence between health, trade and investment laws, policies and sectors. SPC, in collaboration with partner agencies, hosted the Pacific NCD Legislation Consultation Workshop held on the 7 and 8 March 2019 in Nadi. The legislative drafters from 12 PICTs, and health policy experts from regional partner agencies participated in the Workshop. The participants discussed the content, scope, structure and approach to develop the Pacific NCD Legislation Framework (PLF) that would harness the power of Pacific voices through collective approaches to tackle the Pacific NCD.
The Pacific Nutrition Workshop was organised and hosted by the Pacific Community (SPC) in Nadi, Fiji from 28–30 November 2017. Nutritionists from 20 Pacific Island countries and territories and regional partner agencies attended the workshop.
The workshop was an opportunity to present the Pacific Guidelines for Healthy Living; A handbook for health professionals and educators.
